An Assessment of Suicide Squad KtJL

An Assessment of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League (and its many storytelling problems) SPOILERS! THIS WILL BE YOUR ONLY WARNING! Boy, that sure aged well, didn't it? (In all seriousness, I still love that skin and think it's awesome. It's just too bad it's stuck in a bad game). OK, so I've now seen the story of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, and oh boy, do I have thoughts. And let me just say, not entirely negative either. I actually do kind of like the child Poison Ivy twist. Felt like something different with a character who is usually pretty similar from one version to the next, so I thought that was a fun idea they had. And speaking of, I do think most of the humor lands pretty well. The Suicide Squad's banter is mostly pretty funny in my opinion, with particular highlights being the Penguin electrocution scene from one of the previews and the Wonder Woman scene where she throws them into a storage container. I've already made clear my both annoyance and contempt for folks who bag on modern CGI and try to dishonestly use it to prove that modern movies are bad: ...and having seen that The Critical Drinker has added another video in his eye-roll worthy "modern movies suck" series, I decided to rebut that one too, if only because it's a sentiment I've seen be echoed by a few other folks on Youtube besides. Namely, the idea that there is a "multiverse problem"; that stories dealing with the/a multiverse are bad and one of the things dragging modern movies down. Except... ...there are a litany of problems with this. To begin with, the number of movies that actually deal with or involve the multiverse at all are a very, very small fraction of the number of movies that have come out. What If...? Season 2 Guesses + Season 3 Wishlist

UPDATE 12/13/2023: OK, so it turns out there is at least one episode that I never would have guessed at, and that it will actually be the first episode they air: "What if Nebula joined the Nova Corps?" Seems like a somewhat random premise to devote a whole episode too, but I'll take it. It does, however, suggest that my idea of a Captain Carter/Kahori team-up being a separate episode may not have been correct, as that would mean 10 episodes when we know the season will only have 9. Hm... Also, it looks like Odin and Hela won't be fighting Wenwu together, but rather Hela will be on Wenwu's side against Odin! I actually prefer this, because it indicates Odin may not be made the villain after all. UPDATE 11/16/2023: So, from the looks of it, the 80s story and the "Yondu gives Quill to Ego" story will actually be one and the same, meaning one of the 9 episodes this season is still technically a mystery content-wise. Things I'd want to see for Jedi Survivor's Sequel

Spitballing Ideas for a hypothetical sequel to Star Wars: Jedi Survivor So with Star Wars: Jedi Survivor having come out and proven a fantastic sequel (apart from a slew of bugs and other technical issues at launch apparently), I decided to speculate on what things I personally would like to see in a sequel. Asmussen has said that he had planned for the series to be a trilogy (and it makes sense, because these sorts of things are always trilogies), so I think there's a decent chance we'll be getting an actual sequel at some point. It will be interesting to see how many of my ideas end up getting used. Oh, and SPOILERS for both Jedi Survivor and its predecessor. Dark Side Force Powers: I feel like the end of the second game sets this up, as Cal is required to "embrace the darkness" towards the end in order to get the power boost he needs to overpower Bode. New Year, New Seasons

We're still early in 2023, so I figured it was a good time to run down a list of the upcoming seasons of things that I enjoy that I'm looking forward to in this coming year: Star Wars: The Bad Batch Season 2: This one has already begun airing episodes, and while The Bad Batch has never been my favorite of the Disney+ Star Wars shows, I don't think it's a bad watch either, and I'm curious to see where the show goes over the course of a second season. Star Wars: Visions Season 2: My go-to show for arguing that The Mandalorian is not, in fact, the only good recent Star Wars product to come out, I thoroughly enjoyed the variety of shorts on display in the first season, and now that we know Season 2 will feature multiple countries' animation rather than just anime specifically, I really can't wait to see what kind of new characters, worlds, and stories we'll get. My hopes for Hogwarts: Legacy

How Harry Potter: Hogwarts Legacy can recapture the magic of the franchise I don't talk about the Potter franchise often, but it must be said that I actually am a big fan of Harry Potter going back to childhood. Really I was part of the OG Potter generation, a kid when the last few books of the series were still coming out, and able to see almost every single Potter film in theaters. These days, it feels a bit like the franchise has been in better places. Even aside from the ongoing controversies regarding Rowling herself, Crimes of Grindelwald and Cursed Child were both received less than enthusiastically by most fans, and I can understand the worry by some that the franchise has begun a death spiral of quality. What If...? Season 2 Predictions / Wishlist-Update

Season 2 of What If...? is (tragically) still a ways off, but I figured that with Season 1 all wrapped up and me having some free time, I thought I'd do an updated and revised list of what possible episodes for the second season. Now, we know what two of the nine will be: one will be another Captain Carter episode (one that will likely be a different version of Captain America: TWS if I had to guess), and the other the Gamora/Iron Man episode that was going to be part of Season 1. But what of the other seven? These are my ideas: What If Hela was the ruler of Asgard?: I had submitted this idea last time, and I still think it's a good one. Diverging from the backstory to Thor: Ragnarok, where Hela beats Odin instead of the other way around, and so Asgard continues as a warmongering power. How different would things be? What would become of other Asgardian characters like Loki and Sif? Would Thor, if he was even ever born, become an enforcer of Hela's will? Personally, I'd love to see

With Disney + What If...? still an unbearable amount of time away, I decided to try and tide myself over by brainstorming ideas of what I would want out of a second season. Now for reference, the first season's ten episodes appear to be as follows: What If Peggy Carter got the Super Soldier Serum? What If Yondu raised T'challa instead of Peter Quill?
